What is Nature Therapy?
In today's world many of us have lost our direct connection with nature, a deeper connection with ourselves and also those around us.
By slowing down, becoming more present in the moment and being mindful we can reconnect and discover a more grounded, meaningful or richer experience in our everyday lives.
Nature therapy and mindfulness practices can have a profound impact on our daily lives where we feel more deeply connected through our senses by grounding ourselves and being reminded we are part of nature and nature is part of us. Humans, nature and all creatures are part of an intricate ecosystem that is interwoven. Nature is our true home.

Meet Michael Marcinkowski
Nature Therapist & Mindfulness Mentor
As a mindfulness and nature enthusiast from a young age, I have spent a large part of my life out in nature in its various forms. I have also been practising meditation since the age of thirteen thanks to my uncle which has become an integral element of my personal practice.
I lead what I see as a balanced lifestyle that is nature based and one of being mindful, present and connected to my surroundings.
My journey in nature begun with bush walks and gardening with my parents, scouting, the tramping club at high school through to studying ecology at university and acting as a conversation volunteer up to this present day. I now meditate daily in nature and go for regular nature walks or trail runs.
But there have been times when I have also been disconnected from nature or my surroundings for long periods due to lifestyle choices in the past. This has helped teach me and solidify my learnings on the true benefits of nature therapy, mindfulness and meditation.

Why Nature Therapy?
It can help with

Enhanced Mood
Research found that 94% of people experiencing mental health challenges believed that contact with nature put them in a more positive mood.
Increased Creativity
Studies show that creativity and problem-solving abilities soar when we spend time in natural places.
De-stress
Research has found that as little as 10 minutes in a natural setting can help you feel happier and lessen the effects of both physical and mental stress.

Mindfulness
Time in nature and nature therapy helps individuals become more mindful by helping people slow down and be aware of the environment around them. The positive impacts from this are then carried into everyday life.
Focus
Situating yourself in nature can be a very restorative experience and may positively affect your concentration and mental clarity.
Immune System
One study of people who spent six hours over two days in nature experienced an increase in virus- and cancer-fighting white blood cells. The immune boost lasted for seven days after being in nature.
